A Traveling Old Man Gives Farewells

As I am older now, I prefer to stay more away from the spotlight in Rome and travel to more places. I have traveled to some places such as Beneventum and Capri. At Capri I have fallen ill and have rested for four days. Unfortunately, I'm feeling worse so I've decided to return to Rome. I will not be posting anymore as I don't fell well enough and as an old man, I have nothing much to say. Thank you all for your support for me and most of all, thank the great empire of Rome for all it has done to me.

Republic Becomes Empire

With my new power, I went to conquer Spain and to reinforce Roman rule in Gaul. I then returned to Rome to focus more on building projects for Rome. I restored 82 temples in a year, built the theatre of Apollo, the Horologium, and my own mausoleum. The senate further gave consulship for life and giving me the title of princeps, which means emperor. I was especially honored when the senate granted me a new honor, father of the country.

I Am Victorious

I found out that Antony had been with Cleopatra recently and has divorced his wife, Octavia, also my sister. I found his will and read it to the Roman people. In it, he stated that he would give large amounts of money to Cleopatra and his family and Egypt. He also said that if he died, he wanted his body buried in Egypt, and not in Rome. This outraged the Roman people and the senate declared war on Antony. My forces, led by Agrippa, met Antony's troops at Actium in Greece. I came out victorious in the battle but with my victory, Antony and Cleopatra both committed suicide. After this battle, I became sole ruler of Rome with power granted to me by the senate. I also have been given a new name, Augustus.

Tension in the Triumvirate

Antony, Lepidus, and I had formed a triumvirate but there was tension between the three of us. First, Antony and I felt that Lepidus was not worthy to rule with us so we forced him out of power. That left Antony and I in charge of Rome. Antony though, is spending much of his time in Egypt and not helping much in Rome. Naturally, I think the Romans feel I am a stronger leader and that I should be the single leader. I am not sure how this will be resolved.

Death of Julius Caesar

Today is a very tragic day as my great-uncle, Julius Caesar, was assassinated by members of the Roman Senate. Julius was a great man; he expanded Rome, brought wealth to Rome, and he was a great father to me. A letter was sent to me from Rome requesting that I go to Rome and join Antony and Lepidus as new leaders of Rome. I am currently studying in Apollonia, Greece, and despite complaints from friends and family that I am too young, I have decided to go as I feel a need to avenge my uncle's death and to claim what is rightfully mine.
